The Groen Kwartier in Antwerp is home to an old stokehouse, centrally located on the site. When designing, I tried to retain the charm of the original building, but with a personal, contemporary twist.

For fashion designer Véronique Leroy, I designed a fashion shop that reflects her unique vision. Leroy, a Belgian designer, is known for her innovative approach to clothing design. She plays with contrasts: powerful versus delicate, bright versus faded colours, simplicity versus sophistication. Her work results in the signature ‘leroyenne’ silhouette – modern, quirky and balanced between chic and eccentric.

My design presents her creations as works of art in an architectural ‘box’ of sandblasted glass. Cut-outs of clear glass create subtle vistas, generating curiosity from the outside and inviting passers-by to explore the space inside. This creates a field of tension between openness and mystery, perfectly in keeping with Leroy’s aesthetic.
