The Fundamental Factor pavilion has been designed to respond to the ever-changing conditions under which people gather on the Bijloke site. It has transformed a forgotten passageway into a space that offers greater comfort and safety.
Just as time never stands still, the atmosphere, usage, lighting, weather, context and experience are also in constant flux. The project is based on the interplay between climate, time, context and the people who use, activate and give meaning to the space. Rotating screens, open structures and an adjustable canopy create a space that can adapt to any situation.
If it rains, for example, the space can be transformed into an outdoor room where sound, reflections and materials take centre stage, with a canopy offering protection from the rain. On a sunny day, it can function as an open or intimate meeting space or as a backdrop. In the evening, the same structure can be used for open-air screenings, social gatherings or moments of reflection.
In this way, Fundamental Factor forms a transformable pavilion and a setting in which memories are created.
