For my bachelor thesis in Interior Design, I reimagined the public library of Zottegem, driven by a fascination for libraries as places of knowledge, encounter, and reflection. More than a collection of books, a library can become a spatial experience that invites curiosity and connection.

Inspired by the architectural language of Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, this project explores transparency, rhythm, and layered spatial compositions. Wooden frameworks create a sense of openness while subtly guiding movement through the building, shaping moments of intimacy and interaction.

Materiality played a central role throughout the design process, with a focus on circular and sustainable materials such as bamboo and PET felt. Through warmth, texture, and tactility, the project aims to create an environment that feels welcoming, calm, and deeply connected to its users and surroundings.
