Griefscapes: mutable terrains shaped through the accumulation and transformation of memory, matter, and loss.

Within my master project, grief is treated as a potent, edgeless force existing both within and beyond us, continuously carving inner and outer worlds. Analogous to physical forces such as erosion, sedimentation, and pressure, grief leaves traces on any terrain it touches (both human and nonhuman). This force leaks into the grooves and folds of our grey matter, forming electrical impulses encoded and archived in the limbic system, just as it sediments within geological layers forming the eco-trauma of collective catastrophes, ultimately transcending earthly borders to become interplanetary sadness.

I have been working with unstable and transformative materials: latex, bacterial cultures (Winogradsky columns), ferric chloride, steel wool, rust, and alcohol inks. Encasing these reactive materials within rigid plexiglass panels, the installation stages a futile attempt to archive the processual. It is a naïve attempt to contain what is fundamentally uncontainable, portraying the clash between human control and forces far beyond our understanding.

I do not have time to grieve

And I do not have the tools

I lost something today

So I just swallowed three handfuls of dirt

Buried it

In my stomach
