Guilty of Love

Guilty of Love is de masterproef van Sophia Bauer en Marieke Schraepen in samenwerking met Mats Vandroogenbroeck. In deze voorstelling storten ze zich op de overvloed van seksueel geweld in onze culturele verbeelding. Vooral de dode verkrachte vrouw blijkt op de meest onverwachte plekken op te duiken: als wensbeeld, als monster, als offer. Waarom blijft dit beeld doorheen de tijden zo krachtig? Op het snijpunt van romantiek en geweld banen de spelers zich een weg door een culturele obsessie.

Guilty of Love is the master project by Sophia Bauer and Marieke Schraepen in collaboration with Mats Vandroogenbroeck. In this performance, they plunge into the abundance of sexual violence in our cultural imagination. Especially the dead raped woman turns up in the most unexpected places: as an image of desire, as a monster, as a sacrifice. Why does this image remain so powerful throughout time? At the crossroads of romance and violence, the actors navigate their way through a cultural obsession.
