Sien’s work arises from an interest in the transformations between emergence and decay. She explores what happens in slumber. What does it mean to be human and in what ways can other species such as fungi, worms, trees, cyborgs, jellyfish, snails, octopuses and moths, exemplify coexistence with different species? Within indefinite time, our environment will consist of the remnants of our current lives. Possibly pieces of plastic float on rivers of oil and metal debris hides walkways. Glass fibre winds between bushes of bone, broken nets dance above steaming swamps of animal and human remains. And possibly organic and non-organic remains tangle together to give rise to new life forms.
