Louis Peeters (b. 2002) creates large-scale reproductions of everyday textures. He transforms these textures into abstractions by frottaging them with the help of his trusted drawing robot. The robot performs these frottages with such refinement that texture masses become visible which would normally remain unseen by the human eye. It is as if the robot conducts a tactile scan. Thanks to the robot’s consistent working method, perfect reproductions emerge, which are often scaled up and subtly modified.
