This research begins with the question of how an educational tool within Participatory Art Projects can contribute to the transfer of visual knowledge between older and younger people.
It investigates how knowledge is created through interaction, dialogue and mutual influence within a collective creative process. For this research, workshops were organised at ‘Bij De Vieze Gasten’ and at the Steiner School. By developing a working method based on collage and accordion booklets, an open and accessible system is created in which participants can freely associate and build upon each other’s images. In this way, the research explores how generations can reinforce and challenge each other’s visual language. The research also examines how this process generates connections and meanings not only between generations but also within other groups themselves, and what role the form of the working method plays in activating this visual exchange.
