In 2023, Chloë’s aunt suffers a stroke. The result: aphasia. A language disorder that has a major impact on daily life. Her aunt is admitted to a care home, where she is well looked after, but she also misses out on a great deal.
What is aphasia? And can artistic activities foster communication and connection for people living with it? And how can people with aphasia living in a care home take part in such activities? Her research began with all these questions. She set to work with Roland, Hugo and Étienne. Three people with aphasia who live at Ter Caele care home in Evergem.
Together with them, she demonstrates how artistic work can be so much more than just a passtime.
