Collaborate, Connect, Contribute – Canapé’s Chaotic Creations – Create, Crash, Conquer
I conducted my research at the collective Canapé vzw. It all started with the question, “How can an art center like Canapé offer accessible art that also invites and activates local residents, creating a mutually valuable relationship?”
I soon realized that getting the neighborhood involved was not so easy. Many people were curious, but not everyone dared to take the plunge and walk in. I started to investigate how I could turn this leap into a small step.
Fortunately, I was able to benefit from Canapé’s growth potential. We quickly established good contacts with several organizations in the neighborhood. Through them, we organized workshops in Canapé’s villa, and that’s how the first local residents came to visit.
To keep this creative dynamic going, I developed a bundle of technical data sheets that could be used during the salon moments.
These moments take place on Fridays and consist of getting together and creating. The technical sheet that will be available there relates to the residents currently working in the villa, or the exhibition that is currently running, etc. This not only creates dialogue between the curious participants, but also between them and the artists in the villa.
