Upcycling en handnaaitechnieken — onderzoek naar duurzame lespraktijken zonder naaimachine

educational master in audiovisual and visual arts

In this master’s project, I seek answers to three research questions arising from a problem statement within my own teaching practice:

Does upcycling remain a sustainable and useful strategy when the quality and usability of textiles may decline in the future?

In what way can a lesson that does not use sewing machines be optimally designed and directed to promote student motivation and engagement?

To what extent can didactic tools, such as instructional videos, help support learners within such a teaching context?

The practical output consists of a compact series of instructional videos explaining different hand sewing techniques step by step. The videos can be accessed via a QR code. In cooperation with Het Entrepot in Bruges, this tool was tested within the framework of a workshop focusing on upcycling.
