Zwette Jean was once a neighbourhood tram that toured the Brabant countryside from Tervuren to Tienen. Today, its traces in the landscape have all but disappeared. With this project, I breathe new life into the historical route as a slow link. A recreational axis connecting landscape, nature and villages.
The old railway meanders through a series of contrasting landscapes. From closed valleys to open agricultural plateaus. This variation is used as a quality of experience. Walkers and cyclists are invited to travel slowly, stand still and consciously experience the environment. The landscape is not simply traversed, but read, slowed down and experienced.
Through landscape interventions, recognisable planting and soft infrastructure, the route is made readable again. Not as a nostalgic trail, but as a contemporary line of tranquillity, encounter and wonder.
