This bachelor project examines the challenges and design proposals for the village center of Neerijse. Design plans have been developed for two project areas within this flanking village, supplemented by a broader vision for safer passability and improved connections with the surrounding landscape.
The decision to redesign the village center arose from a fascination with integrating the landscape into both private and public spaces, with the aim of enabling residents to experience a stronger connection with their environment.
The aim of the design is to enable people to walk safely along the slow roads through Neerijse and to create green-blue connections along these roads. Pedestrians will be given priority, water will become more visible and will be given more space to infiltrate. The project zones are considered village-like public gardens that form connecting zones between the valley and the plateau.Walking allows our senses to relax and appreciate the landscape.
Will you join us on a slow journey through Neerijse and its surroundings?
