In my work, I explore the relationship between place, memory and identity. I am fascinated by how public spaces carry meaning and how that meaning changes depending on who is moving through the space. For me, places function as an archive: they preserve personal memories, historical layers and collective experiences. A street or a building can evoke a moment from the past, whilst at the same time being influenced by the present.

Through walking, I build up a personal archive of these experiences. I do not walk with a fixed destination in mind, but allow myself to be guided by attraction, curiosity and chance encounters. During these walks, I collect impressions through drawings, photographs, video, text, sound, collages and cartography. Using these tools, I attempt to capture places beyond their usual or digital representations.

Drawing on this personal archive, I also organise participatory walks with groups. During these collective moments, I invite participants to experience a place together without a fixed route or time constraints. We explore how we orient ourselves, what feelings or memories places evoke, and how different perspectives can together form a new collective map of an environment.

Ik heb toch soms een andere blik nodig op een plek dan de blik van iemand die hier al woont. Misschien wil ik ergens ook wel een beetje toerist zijn en een bepaald bezoek idee hebben op plekken.

Ik vind het moeilijk om hier mijn weg te vinden, zoveel straten lijken hier op elkaar. Deze stad is zo groot dat het moeilijk is om er grip op te krijgen.  De rustige plekken doen je plotseling beseffen wat er om je heen gebeurt. Wat voor straten wemelen er om me heen? Je begint te beseffen dat de plekken die je de afgelopen dagen hebt ervaren allemaal om je heen bestaan. Je hoeft de drukte en prikkels niet op te zoeken want die zijn er al. Je moet er alleen in mee gaan.

Reizen en je verhouden tot een plek en je eigen ritme daarin vinden is iets wat je voor jezelf moet

uitvogelen.

Ik wil haar dan vragen stellen over deze plek, maar ik doe graag dingen op gevoel en ik wou haar liever laten doen.
