‘Heb je ooit een nachtegaal horen schreeuwen?’, tells the story of Philomela, one of the many women in Greek mythology who was robbed of her voice. Through an audio piece, Anne Rosa Lut explores how women, just like songbirds, adapt their voices to be heard within a patriarchal society full of noise.

This work is part of Anne Rosa’s master’s project Exploring a Feminist Voice, in which she investigates how gender norms influence our voices and what it might sound like to break through those norms. She does this through Gossip Sessions: gatherings in which FLINTA* people can explore their relationship with their voices in a safe and collective way. Raising Voice: Whispers, Stutters and Echoes
An unconventional choir performance by a group of FLINTA*-people investigating their relationship to their voice. Together they welcome vulnerability through whispers, stutters and echoes, while also showcasing the power of a collective voice in resisting patriarchal norms.
