My project explores the concept of the double as a relational space between the body and matter. Examining identity as something constructed through exchange rather than isolation, the work is developed through paired silhouettes, where boundaries between presences blur and unstable, interdependent forms emerge.

Taking an autobiographical approach, the project reflects my role as an artist. I never create alone, my work becomes a displaced version of myself, a transformed mirror through which I construct myself.

Echoing the quotes Je est un autre, the creative identity is formed in this passage between the self and the material’s response.

Paper plays a central role in this exploration, serving as both a metaphor and a material language. Through processes and structural experimentation, paper becomes a medium of transformation that embodies the tension between separation and recomposition. Rather than imposing predetermined forms, the silhouettes emerge through a dialogue between the body, the behaviour of the material, and construction. This is informed by theories of material agency, in which matter actively participates in shaping form.

Presented as paired presences, the garments and paper structures extend into the space, prompting reflection on the body through absence and relational transformation.

Yet I am part of a complete phase of myself, starting out as a blank slate, but this outcome was inevitable.
