Rafels is a project born out of a growing fascination with circus life. This started with seeing a documentary of Circus Pipo. I wanted to create my own world, embodying what circus means to me.

With my project, I try to create a story around a circus troupe and bring the characters to life in my drawings. I have always been fascinated by people who are part of society, yet hold a special position. I think this has something melancholic about it, which is an endless source of inspiration for me.

Rafels zijn losgeraakte draden. Ze zijn dat wat overblijft van een touw, nadat het wordt aangespannen, losgetrokken na gebruik.
