What is it? It needs to know where it peaks, where it itches. What shape it has.

Our existence is made up of boundaries, contours, laws. Development is shifting within what was already there. Each change rooted in a previous step, embedded in a context of form, history and environment. Arranging to the boundary imposes constraints but is the condition for meaning.

The universe in our atoms, the species in our DNA.  It’s thinks in no thoughts of its own, but in phrases of ancestors, categories of dead gods and forgotten thinkers. Old conveniences in a new coat. Permanently spliced to paths that logically build on what it already was. Evolution doesn’t jump, it crawls, it gasps, falls and stands up again. Step by step. It ripples along. It’s a product of everything that once ran crooked and yet continued. The provisional result of something yet to become.

The essence of something is not a core, but a relationship, the friction between something and its limitations. What it is is revealed not by what it could ever be, but by what it can become within its limits. The creativity of allowing something new to emerge within limitation drives development forward.

It explores this visually.
