(…) I entered the museum room where the still lifes hang. The temperature there was noticeably lower and I couldn’t stop yawning. Why do I find still lifes so incredibly boring? In contrast to the other paintings I had seen earlier, neither the material nor the colour scheme stimulated me. But what fascinated me so much that I wanted to start researching the genre? Do I only like them from a distance? Or from so close that the whole picture is lost? Does the mystery — which I felt in the background — only exist when I look at a reproduction on a computer screen? Is it mainly the digital version, which I can zoom in and out of, that puts me in a state of enchantment? (…)
