Het woekert rondom ons.
‘Woekeren’ is a dynamic process that continuously connects with its environment through growth, development, and expansion. The longer this dynamic structure interacts with its environment, the more they become intertwined. Its character is lush, and the shapes that emerge from this process have no boundaries and know no end. But what happens when there are no spatial and temporal restrictions? What form can it take?
Within my practice, the idea of ‘woekeren’ began to grow on its own. Just like ‘woekeren’ itself, it develops and adopts its own rules. During the felting process, the shapes shift and transform; they arise through the act of pushing and pulling within the textile. The various threads and textures come together, supporting and shaping the structure.
The new structures and textures that emerge, form the crux of my work; their transformation and growth reflect the concept of what ‘woekeren’ can be. In this ongoing search, I see my work as mere snapshots – fixed in both time and space – because ‘woekeren’ does not stop; it keeps sprawling endlessly.
