Secondary school students in part time art education want to create in a playful way and see results, but the limited time frame of a 60-minute lesson poses a challenge. There is a need for lesson assignments that teach play skills and offer opportunities for presentation. That is why I am investigating how targeted assignments can lead to presentation opportunities within a single lesson. To this end, I am studying literature and interviewing theater teachers with experience in the second grade of part time art education about their methods for achieving a performance opportunity within a single lesson. I discuss the state of affairs with a sounding board group from the field and incorporate it into four lesson plans that I test in my own teaching practice. The conclusion is that integrating a performance moment within a single lesson is not only feasible, but also extremely valuable. In summary, it can be said that using performance moments within a 60-minute lesson contributes to deepening acting skills, stimulating creativity, and strengthening the learning experience of students in the second grade of part time art education—provided that the lesson is structured, the framework is clear, and the conditions are supportive.
