What might the countryside around Bruges look like in 2100? How will the city and the landscape change in relation to one another?

In response to these questions, a vision was developed based on a horizontal reorganisation of functions for an area north of Bruges. The area is framed and criss-crossed by infrastructure; within this grid-like spatial composition, all manner of functions have staked their claim. This has occurred without any coherence or quality that transcends the grid, with the result that this area lacks unity, becoming more of a territory than a landscape, used solely for exploitation and production. This stands in contrast to the city of Bruges and other surrounding landscapes.

The guiding principle for this vision was the water system, in which the Lisseweegse-vaartje plays the leading role, as well as the aforementioned spatial characteristics.
