In welke mate kan ik bij de saxofoon zowel het improvisatorische als de uitgebreide technieken samenbrengen? Een combinatie van zowel een jazz aanpak en eerder klassieke aanpak van de saxofoon. Een onderzoek naar de saxofoon als solo-instrument met de nadruk op de  mogelijkheden en limieten van het instrument met eigen composities. Door middel van circulair ademen creëer ik een eigen landschap waar men de luisteraars in meeneemt.

Daarnaast de saxofoon in band context met eigen composities. Als Inspiratiebron het 2^de quintet van Miles Davis. Omdat de klank van de saxofoon centraal staat bij het optreden wordt er geen beroep gedaan op een harmonisch instrument zoals een gitaar of piano. Wel een bas, drum, tenor- en altsaxofoon. De drum en bas voor texturen en ritme. De saxen voor klank en melodieën. Een extra instrument zou de band te veel in een richting duwen terwijl in deze context de ritmesectie voor een ruggengraad zorgt en de saxofoons hun eigen aanpak laten weerklinken.

To what extent can I bring together both improvisational and extented techniques of the saxophone? A combination of a jazz approach and a more classical approach to the saxophone. A research into the saxophone as a solo instrument with the emphasis on the possibilities and limits of the instrument through my own compositions. By means of circular breathing I create my own musical landscape.

In addition, the saxophone as part of a band. Playing my own compositions. As a source of inspiration the 2nd quintet by Miles Davis. Because the sound of the saxophone is central to the performance, in stead of a harmonic instrument such as the guitar or the piano I added a bass, drum, tenor and alto saxophone. The drum and bass for textures and rhythm. The saxes for sound and melodies. An extra instrument would push the band too much in one direction while in this context the rhythm section provides a backbone and the saxophones can pretty much do their thing.
