Autobiografische graphic novel over het leven in Poetins Rusland als nationale minderheid. Korte samenvatting: “Veronika’s leven in het Rusland van Poetin is een reis vol ontberingen, discriminatie en politieke onrust. Geboren in de republiek Noord-Ossetië, ooit bezet door het Russische Rijk en nog steeds geteisterd door conflicten en armoede, wordt ze al op jonge leeftijd geconfronteerd met tegenslagen. Veronika’s reis begint met het verlies van haar vader als ze slechts twee maanden oud is. Ze wordt aan de zorg van haar grootouders overgelaten terwijl haar moeder naar Moskou verhuist om een inkomen te garanderen voor het gezin. Ze droomt van een hereniging met haar moeder en worstelt om haar plaats te vinden in een wereld waar haar diverse Armeens-Ossetische etnische achtergrond haar tot doelwit van vooroordelen en haat maakt.”

Born in a republic of North Ossetia once occupied by Russian Empire and still plagued by conflicts and poverty, she faces adversity from a young age. Veronika’s journey begins with the loss of her father when she is just two months old. Left in the care of her grandparents while her mother moves to Moscow to provide for the family, she dreams of reuniting with her mother and struggles to find her place in a world where her diverse Armenian- Ossetian ethnic background makes her a target for prejudice and hatred.”
