How do you represent something that does not belong in its environment?

For this graduation project, an investigation was made into the relationship between lost waste and material in the concept of ’the fantastic dream world’. This series of works was created with the idea of a balance between recognisable objects and material of foreign origin.

With inspiration from Aztec culture in America and primitive tribes from Africa, to the beginnings of the surrealists in the early 1920s, these works were also constructed with the makers’ own interpretation of ‘ritual’ and ‘alienation’.

For the artist, the texture of the sculptures is central and he wants to give these autonomous objects a skin. The skin gives the object a reference to action from within itself, as if it were something that lives or has lived and is in the process of transformation.

With this conclusion of various influences and balance of matter, these sculptures are built up in ritual and released into their surroundings.
