“We have not even risk the adventure alone for the heroes of all time have gone before us” -Joseph Campbell

Let’s go back to old-school fairy tales, stories, legends, myths…and learn their meaning. A fairytale based on ‘The Girl-Fish’ of Andrew Lang is a story that inspired me to get my ink, gravestone pencils and typography pens. In this story the female protagonist experiences her own heroic journey and transcendental transformations. Young girls and women long for stories where we not only take back our power but also our position of importance in this world. Through my illustrations, I deliberately put the focus on the female lead and add layers of hidden meanings. The uniqueness of this story should be expressed in an inimitable way. Illustrating statue-like figures in a simple yet powerful manner can give justice to the idea. Through the use of simple black line-art combined with bold black and white typo alternately throughout the whole publication, the message is conveyed as clearly as possible – simple yet captivating.
