In den beginne schiep God den hemel en de aarde. De aarde nu was woest en ledig, en duisternis was op den afgrond; en de Geest Gods zweefde op de wateren. En God zeide: Daar zij licht! En daar werd licht. (Gen. 1:1-3)
Wanneer het er is zien we het niet en wanneer het er niet is zien we niets. Maar als we er op letten openbaart het ons de prachtigste spektakels.
Zon, maan, sterren, vuur.
Ze zorgen ervoor dat we de wereld rond ons kunnen zien, waarnemen. Zonder hun energie was er niets. Geen leven, geen zicht, geen animatie of film. Zonder licht is er niets, alleen duisternis en kilte. Wij zijn allen kinderen van het licht, dus laten we het licht eren.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was desolate and empty, and darkness was upon the abyss; and the Spirit of God hovered upon the waters. And God said, Let there be light. And there was light. (Gen. 1:1-3)
When it is there we do not see it and when it is not there we see nothing. But when we pay attention it reveals to us the most wonderful spectacles.
Sun, moon, stars, fire.
They enable us to see, to perceive the world around us. Without their energy there was nothing. No life, no sight, no animation or film. Without light there is nothing, only darkness and coldness. We are all children of light, so let us honor light.
