De Geknipte Vriend, translates loosely as ‘the tailormade friend’, features the act of projecting gardening onto the friendship between two guild masters of Jerome. The video provides a sample of the Jerome lifestyle where gardening is seen as the essence of actions. The guild masters are wearing Cincio Couture. The sound of the video is muted. The sound of the scythe is the result of Jerome’s gardening, and in the installation 'Big Brothers Take The Mower' it functions as a metronome for the cultivation of the guild master.
Dans Der Vanitas is a composition of two videos of a Jerome gardener mowing long grass with a scythe. The images are captured by a GoPro camera attached to a scythe to capture the momentum of the artistic gesture. The repetitive choreography is visually minimalized to the swinging movement of the scythe. The sound of the metal blade sliding down the ground is played out loud in space. The sound of the scythe is the result of Jerome’s gardening, and in the installation 'Big Brothers Take The Mower' it functions as a metronome for the cultivation of the guild master.

Jerome is the contemporary gardening guild that strives to open up the practice of gardening and test its potential as an artistic act. The guild cultivates the gardening experience through the design of tools and interventions in both art and garden context, and by appropriating non-gardens as gardens. Jerome considers gardening to be a lifestyle with its own icons and emblems.
Jerome was co-founded by Stan D’Haene in 2017, and he has led the guild towards its first public appearances in spring 2018. The work which he has realized with Jerome is the body of his graduation project. Stan D’Haene has also recently collaborated with Bart Van Dijck on a duo show and performance ‘Slagtanden Op Ware Grootte’, and worked on Pieterjan Ginckels’ recent projects.
