Soetkin Bral, Participatief tekenproject bij Overkop Gent

Beeldend kunstenaars Soetkin (illustratie)  en Ines (schilderkunst) gingen een participatief tekenproject aan bij Overkop Gent. 

“In een OverKop-huis kan je als jongere tot 25 jaar gewoon binnen en buiten lopen en allerlei leuke activiteiten doen. Het is een veilige plek waar je ook een luisterend oor vindt en beroep kan doen op professionele therapeutische hulp, zonder een label opgeplakt te krijgen.” (Overkop, z.d.)

Ze gingen aan de slag vanuit het medium tekenen met als doel verbinding en communicatie aan te moedigen en hun passie voor beeldende kunst te delen. 

“Kunstzinnig bezig zijn in groep betekent dat je als mens mag en durft te zijn wie jij bent. Jij met jouw kleur. Jij met jouw tint. Je kan verschillen tussen mensen op papier zien: elke kleur op zich is mooi, anders, en tegelijkertijd: gelijkwaardig.” (Dekeyzer, 2010)

De output van deze tekenworkshops werd gevormd in een boekje.

Visual artists Soetkin (illustration) and Ines (painting) embarked on a participatory drawing project at Overkop Ghent.

“In an OverKop house, young people up to 25 years old can just walk in and out and do all kinds of fun activities. It’s a safe space where you can also find a listening ear and call on professional therapeutic help, without being labelled.” (Overkop, s.d.)

They started working from the medium of drawing with the aim of encouraging connection and communication and sharing their passion for visual art.

“Being artistic in group means being allowed  to be who you are as a person. You with your colour. You with your tone. You can see differences between people on paper: each colour in itself is beautiful, different, and at the same time: equal.” (Dekeyzer, 2010)

The output of these drawing workshops was edited into a publication.
