Throughout life, we all encounter our personal torments. Over the past five years I have tried to find my way through many dreams and possibilities. In addition to some fantastic experiences, I have learned that life is not always easy. Even if you seem to be perfectly balanced to the outside world, you can be tormented within.

Tormenti (= ’torments’) is more than a title. It’s something I’ve struggled with for the past five years. Something that has become part of me. Therefore, in this recital I interpret not only Lucrezia’s torments after she was brutally raped (Lucrezia, Handel), and Idamante’s torment after his loved one told him to forget about her (Ch’io mi scordi di te, Mozart), but I also project my own personal torment on the story of Cendrillon (different scenes from Cendrillon, Massenet).
