Terrain is an audio-visual composition in which I try to combine disciplines to create a united experience.
Interactions between sound and image set stage to a tale of a landscape. This landscape becomes unrecognisable, as it erupts into abstraction.
In my practice I work with low-level digital operations on images, in this case with photo’s of natural landscapes which transform to new kinds of landscapes. I see Terrain as a collaboration between the materiality of the landscapes, the binary logic of the transistors and the excited neurons in my brain. Sometimes it follows my ‘own’ logic, or that of the computer, at other moments that of the landscapes. In time, these understandings merge, influencing each other in feedback loops of thought, sound and image.
