Marandúa is a future city in Colombia that never existed. Its location would be Vichada, a department in the southeast of Colombia that has a double border: one with Venezuela as a nation-state and one with the Amazon as the largest tropical forest in the world. The architectural project had an initial area of 1,200 hectares for its first phase, limited by the Terecay River, nearby forests, and the layout of new regional land routes that did not happen either. Belisario Betancur was the president who planned its construction with an unusual result since this project was transformed first into a prison farm and then into a military base that exists to this day.
