Het project ‘Multi-flats’ beschrijft de relatie tussen Architectuur en Sculptuur. Dit zijn beide disciplines waar een onderscheid tussen gemaakt kan worden, maar die elkaar kunnen tegemoet komen in een grijze zone, waar het ene het andere nodig heeft. Net als kunst gemaakt wordt en architectuur ontworpen wordt, bevat het beide een artistiek proces van denken en zo overlappen ze elkaar in een ‘lege’ ruimte die door beide ‘moet’ worden opgevuld. Ik voel een sterke aantrekkingskracht tot zowel oude als moderne architectuur. De esthetische waarde die een gebouw bezit, kan ook worden toegepast in de beeldhouwkunst. Wat is het verband tussen deze twee disciplines? Beide zijn driedimensionaal en bestaan uit hoogte, diepte en breedte, en houden rekening met factoren als licht en omgeving.

Het is een boeiende samensmelting van architectuur en de beeldhouwkunst. Het vertegenwoordigt een kunstvorm die de grenzen van traditionele artistieke uiting nagaat. Denk maar aan de grote paleizen, kerken, tempels en monumenten die er gebouwd werden. Daarom kan ik concluderen dat de architectuur zich onomkeerbaar manifesteert in een functie, die duidelijk evolueert naar een sculpturale waarneming.

The project “Multi-flats” describes the relationship between Architecture and Sculpture. Both are disciplines that can be differentiated between but that can meet in a gray zone where one needs the other. Just as art is made and architecture is designed they both contain an artistic process of thought and so they overlap in an “empty” space that must be “filled” by both. I feel a strong attraction to both ancient and modern architecture. The aesthetic value that a building possesses can also be applied in sculpture. What is the connection between these two disciplines? Both are three-dimensional and consist of height, depth and width, and take into account factors such as light and environment.

A fascinating fusion of architecture and sculpture, it represents an art form that explores the limits of traditional artistic expression. Just think of the great palaces, churches, temples and monuments that were built there. Therefore, I can conclude that architecture irreversibly manifests itself in a function, clearly evolving into a sculptural perception.
