Lisa Moernaut, Een groenblauwe verbinding tussen de gemeenschap

Meulestede, de wijk waar op gefocust wordt binnen de bachelorproef, bestaat voornamelijk uit naoorlogse gebouwengroepen met sociale woningen. Het pluspunt aan deze wijk is dat het is gelegen in een groenere omgeving. Ten westen van de wijk ligt Wondelgem, en ten zuidoosten Houtdok/Oude Dokken/omgeving Afrikalaan. Door de Sifferverbinding en de wooneenheden die er de komende jaren zullen bijkomen zal Meulestede uitgroeien tot een bruisend eilandje in de stad. Maar vandaag de dag wordt de wijk nog niet ten volle benut. Aan de hand van mijn bachelorproef wordt er een nieuw masterplan hiervoor voorgelegd.

Meulestede, the neighbourhood focused on within the bachelor thesis, consists mainly of post-war building groups with social housing. The advantage of this district is that it is located in a greener area. To the west of the district is Wondelgem, and to the south-east Houtdok/Oude Dokken/ around the Afrikalaan. Because of the Siffer connection and the residential units that will be added in the coming years, Meulestede will grow into a bustling little island in the city. But today, the district is not yet being used to its full potential. On the basis of my bachelor’s thesis, a new master plan for this will be presented.
