Alex is a 10-year-old boy in a hospital, with machines  connected to his body. He is very ill. In the land of Half-light, Alex is a 10-year-old hero. In this beautiful place, he has to fight the dark. He roars at it like a lion. He is so brave. Alex has to leave his family behind in the hospital.
