Grandtalks – The glories of old stories

In the past 75 years we can already speak of five totally different generations. These generation gaps really got my attention. I have developed an application that will allow grandchildren to visit their grandparents more often. The main goal of the application is actually to make it easier to start a conversation between family members, because I truly believe that young people can learn from elder people and vice versa.

When youngsters visit their grandparents, they can open the ‘Grandtalks’ application on their mobile phone (both on and offline). First the players have to fill in their names and afterwards questions and interactive games linked to a person pop up. While playing the game, family members learn more about each other’s lives, the differences between their generations and receive life advice.

For some questions you have to tell the answers out loud. These stories can be recorded, which gives you the chance to listen to these enlightening stories again and share them on Messenger, WhatsApp and on the Grandtalks website. For other questions you need to fill in the answer. This data will be put into one beautiful ‘end story’ including the players and their answers.

So why not sit together, listen to beautiful stories and learn from each other before it’s too late…

Grandtalks – The glories of old stories

Life on earth is developing very quickly and people are adapting very easily to new tools and techniques. This means that when people are born in different decades, their way of growing up is already a bit distant. In the past 75 years we can generally speak of five different generations! And with the word ‘different’, I mean really different. There’s such a big distinction between generation Z and the Babyboomers in terms of parenting, technology and economics.

With the ‘Grandtalks’ application I want to bring other generations closer together because I believe young people can learn from elder people and vice versa. When youngsters visit their grandparents, they can open the ‘Grandtalks’ app. on their mobile phone both on and offline. First the players have to fill in their names and afterwards questions, games and dilemmas linked to a person pop up. While playing the game, family members learn more about each other’s lives, generations and receive life advice. For some questions you have to tell the answers out loud. These stories can be recorded, which gives you the chance to listen to these enlightening stories again. For other questions you need to fill in the answer. This data will be put into one beautiful ‘end story’ including the players and their answers.

These days, many youngsters show and compare their lives to and with others way more than it used to be (partly due to the social world). This may lead to more insecurities, social pressure and life questions. So why not chat with people who endured the biggest part of their lives and learn something from them? Elder people know exactly what’s important at the end of the day and what’s not. On the other hand, older people would love to spend their free time with family or young adults. Using this application will help them to fresh up some old memories. And you know, everybody loves that feeling when you suddenly remember something from the past, right? So why not sit together, listen to beautiful stories and learn from each other before it’s too late… I know this sounds cruel, but’s it’s a fact. Life goes on, so take your chance to have a real conversation with your grandparents or other generations.
