Throughout history, the spiral has made many prominent appearances in human culture. It is a fact of nature and a sensed and perceived potential within the human body, closely related to the flow and energy of consciousness. Spirit, spiral and inspiration all come from the same etymological root spirare, which is an intersection of fundamental concepts related to life and art.
Irina Lavrinovic’s project is a practice of spiral observations and manifestations. These happen through individual and group embodied movements, through engagement of the voice and as an action of drawing that leaves visual traces of spirals on paper. She invites us to observe how presence and expression are moved to change their form by and through spiral.
