Elmira Karimi, Herbestemming pakhuis – Boetiek Hotel ARYA

Als opdracht voor het afstudeerproject werd gevraagd om een voormalige pakhuis te verbouwen tot een hotel met een vernieuwend concept. Een visuele wisselwerking tussen gebouw, interieur en nabije omgeving.

Dit hotel bevindt zich in hartje Antwerpen, dicht bij het centrale station en het centrum. Een leuke plek voor toeristen en bezoekers.

Na mijn analyse over het pand en de omgeving besloot ik een boetiek hotel te ontwerpen met aandacht voor duurzaamheid en meer groen in de stad. Als doelgroep wil ik mensen aantrekken die op zoek zijn naar nieuwe uitdagingen, nieuwe culturen en nieuwe plekken. Niet enkel toeristen maar mensen die af en toe hun thuis willen verlaten en in een nieuw omgeving willen rusten. Mensen die open zijn voor vernieuwing, cultuur en ruimtes.

De mooiste vorm om een cultuur te vertellen is Architectuur. Daarom wil ik de Perzische cultuur vertalen in mijn ontwerp als hedendaags architecturaal concept. De ruimtelijke beleving van een cultuur in zijn minimale vorm.

As a bachelor project, we were asked to convert a former warehouse into a hotel with an innovative concept. A visual interaction between building, interior and nearby environment.

This hotel is located in the heart of Antwerp, close to the central station and the city center. A nice place for tourists and visitors.

After my analysis of the building and its surroundings, I decided to design a boutique hotel, paying attention to sustainability and more green zones in the city. As a target group I want to attract people who are looking for new challenges, new cultures and new places. Not just tourists but people who want to leave their home once in a while and rest in a new environment. People who are open to innovation, culture and spaces.

The most beautiful form to pass on a culture is trough architecture. Therefore, I want to translate the Persian culture in my design as a contemporary architectural concept. The spatial experience of a culture in its minimal form.
