Ik woon hier en dit is mijn huis. Ik woon in mijn huis, maar ik woon niet in mijn huis. Ik kan ook op veel andere plaatsen leven, lachen en liefhebben. Is een huis alleen maar een gebouw? Heb je andere mensen nodig in een huis, omdat het anders gewoon een kamer zou zijn? Om een huis te vinden, kun je de stoelen tellen, of de hoeveelheid koffiekoppen op tafel. Of je kunt kijken wie de katten te eten geeft.

I live here and this is my house gaat over het bewust worden van een ongezonde leefruimte en het zien dat de kinderlijke onschuld zijn grip op je verliest. Het concept van ouder worden en hoe bang je daarvoor bent. Hoe graag je je vastklampt aan verloren jaren en ze tegelijkertijd verafschuwt. En hoezeer de toekomst alleen maar teleurstelt.

I live here and this is my house. I live in my house, but I don’t live in my house. I can live, laugh and love in many other places too. Is a house just a building. Does one need other people in a house, since it otherwise would just be a room. To find a house, you can count the chairs, or the amount of coffees on the table. Or you can look at who actually feeds the cats.

I live here and this is my house is about becoming aware of an unhealthy living space and seeing the childhood innocence lose its grip on you. The concept of growing older and how much you fear it. How much one might want to cling onto lost years while also resenting them at the same time. And how much the future only tends to disappoint.
