‘Echoes of 1984’, een filmdecor geïnspireerd op het dystopische boek ‘1984’, George Orwell’s klassieker die vandaag nog steeds actueel is.

Het verhaal bestaat uit drie acts, elk gefilmd in één vloeiende camerabeweging, waarmee een ongefilterd beeld van het decor wordt gecreëerd. Dit afgewisseld met in- en uitzoomtechnieken, wat het mogelijk maakt om binnen in de decors te kijken.

De cirkelvormige basis symboliseert samen met de roterende camerabeweging, de onontkoombare greep van het totalitaire regime. Centraal staan vier monumentale torens die de macht van de alziende Partij representeren, ze zijn bijna in alle scénes voelbaar, je ziet ze door de ramen, ze stijgen boven de muren uit… je ervaart hun dreigende aanwezigheid overal.

Het decor, de camerabewegingen en de alomtegenwoordige aanwezigheid van de torens brengen een tijdloos verhaal tot leven, een verhaal dat ons blijft herinneren aan de waarde van vrijheid en de kracht van het individu.

The story consists of three acts, each filmed in one fluid camera movement, creating an unfiltered view of the set. This interspersed with zooming in and out techniques, allowing one to see inside the sets.

The circular base, together with the rotating camera movement, symbolises the inescapable grip of the totalitarian regime. At the centre are four monumental towers that represent the power of the all-seeing Party, they are almost palpable in all the scenes, you see them through the windows, they rise above the walls… you experience their menacing presence everywhere.

The setting, the camera movements and the ubiquitous presence of the towers bring to life a timeless story, one that continues to remind us of the value of freedom and the power of the individual.
