Barry Fitzgerald, Legal education for civic inclusion
This project comprises online action research in the area of community legal education and civic participation. A website and related Youtube channel provides the background to the planned research, a knowledge base about its topics and a structured opportunity for participation in it. As the research progresses, the same platforms will be where outcomes are documented and where aspects of the educational activities that result from the research are mediated.
The initial phase of the research has 3 themes:
Law to life looks at how legal knowledge can be brought to those that need it most
Law to listen looks at how community education can empower marginalized groups to have a voice in legal processes;
Law to light that looks at the role information technology can play in enriching civic participation through education.
