Sæge is the musical solo project of master student Cedric Haeck. With a classical band line-up, they perform sincere songs about deeply human reflections, in which the voice takes centre stage and is embraced by a cinematic, organic soundscape. It also becomes a performance that expands into a broader disciplinary whole with contemporary dancer Ine Garré on stage to visually interpret stories. The project name refers to a powerful plant with a very rich history and connection to humans, as well as to the concept of ‘the wise man’, after whom it is named. The objective is to see this sage in everyday life and to poetically form a new insight into song. The fact that the name ‘Sæge’ phonetically resembles a pet name that close friends like to use is a little wink. For this final concert, the group plays with a rather dark palette and heavily charged themes such as mortality, neglect, isolation, war and paranoia. This is contrasted with reconciliation and affection with, by and for fellow human beings and the search for loving connection.
