ALORI is an eclectic mix, but then again, what isn't these days? The era of clear genres and recognisable pop sounds died somewhere in 2013. Now it's one big mishmash: a TikTok scroll of influences, styles and moods that change every two seconds. I sing myself (not as a singer-songwriter, but as myself), writing according to my own voice and desire. Sometimes lots of chords, sometimes almost nothing to let the emptiness speak. Bad digital piano sounds à la MKS-20, modal twists, 80s synths, gospel influences and pop ‘with an edge’. Think Alt-J meets Michael McDonald with a dash of Louis Cole and a pinch of FKA Twigs. After a broad education at KASK & Conservatorium, I sometimes feel more searching than ever. ALORI is therefore not a project with a strict line or marketing plan. It is a sonic identity crisis. It is music for those who don't feel like a genre at the moment.
