Based on archive footage of my grandparents, the film follows a Belgian woman and a Surinamese man as they try to build a life together in Suriname. What begins as an almost idyllic existence slowly unfolds into an intimate quest for identity, connection and alienation. Set against the backdrop of the tropical landscape, carried by the heat, silence and the rhythm of everyday life, the film explores what it means to feel at home somewhere.
